Miriam Kaya was born in Hamburg. Before she received her preliminary training in dance at the Gymnasium Essen-Werden, she took part in international artistic gymnastics competitions at a young age. She then completed her bachelor's degree in contemporary dance at the Zurich University of the Arts and performed in choreographies by Itzik Galili, Barak Marshall, Ihsan Rustem and Adrijana Dancevska, among others. In the 2018/19 season, she worked with the Norrdans company in northern Sweden. From 2019 to 2021, Miriam was a guest dancer for several productions at the Staatstheater Braunschweig. She also toured in freelance projects with Kenan Dinkelmann, Fabian Cohn and Tillmann Becker. Miriam has also completed training as a yoga teacher in India. From season 2021 to 2023 , Miriam was engaged at the Volkstheater Rostock where she worked with choreographers such Katja Taranu and Blenard Azizaj and more.

Since season 2023/24 Miriam has been a permanent ensemble member of the Tanztheater Braunschweig at the Staatstheater Braunschweig. Here she appeared in works by Dunja Jocic, Gregor Zöllig and Sita Ostheimer.

In addition to her dance work, Miriam has been assisting with Tillmann's production “Untoldparadox” since 2019 and is responsible for communication and production. Tillmann Becker is particularly pleased that Miriam is part of his team, as her creative energy and professionalism make a valuable contribution.
